Located opposite the well-known Furon canyoning descent, the Infernet canyoning site is very close to Grenoble.
Unlike the Vercors plateau, the Chartreuse mountain range is more rugged, with numerous valleys running through it, separated by peaks peaking at around 2000m.
Pastoral activity is well developed here, as is the timber trade.

Leaving Grenoble in the direction of Quaix en Chartreuse, you soon find yourself in mid-mountain landscapes. The canyon starts at the entrance to the village, and an increasingly steep walk through the undergrowth brings us to the foot of the Neyron, the immense rocky mass that overlooks Grenoble from the full height of its east face, and hides the start of the canyon at the foot of its north face.

As you descend, the sound of a distant waterfall reminds you why you’re there, and the closer you get, the louder the roar. As soon as you start walking in the water, the atmosphere increases and the walls tighten. You cross the^1st slide and arrive in front of the impressive 25m waterfall. The start is always impressive, the handrail overhangs the abyss and the abseil starts like a spider’s web before reaching the foot of the waterfall.
At the bottom, the atmosphere is exceptional, the walls rise for almost 100m on either side of the stream. In places, the sun manages to sneak through this mineral maze, and everything lights up with yellow rock, green water and a rainbow of spray, revealing the full beauty of the Infernet canyon to you.
The slides and jumps follow one another in a grandiose atmosphere.

The L’infernet canyon is without doubt the best canyon of the Chatreuse, located in the Isère department, and is a descent not to be missed.
