The Furon canyon is a progressive canyon in two parts. This canyon is located near Grenoble, in the Vercors massif, and ends right in the heart of the town of Sassenage.

The canyoning descent of the Furon is ideal for discovering the activity, having fun with friends and family or celebrating a special event(canyoning EVG, EVJF, Team Building…). It’s a complete adventure combining hiking, climbing and swimming in a spectacular natural environment.

Along the way, you’ll find jumps, slides, abseils and a zip line.

Possibility of doing just one part of the Furon canyon: upper or lower section (Sassenage)

The upper part of the Furon canyon, located in the commune of Engins, features a number of playful obstacles. Obstacles are of moderate height (9 metres). No jump required!

The lower part of the Furon canyon is more vertical. Abseils and jumps are higher. This section ends in the heart of the town of Sassenage.

The descent of the Furon often begins with a short hike to the canyon entrance. Once you’ve donned a neoprene wetsuit, helmet and harness, you’re ready for adventure. Our enthusiastic canyoning instructors will guide you through the techniques of abseiling, sliding down the slides and jumping into the water in complete safety.

The Furon canyon offers magnificent scenery, with impressive rock faces and clear waterfalls. You’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in natural pools and enjoy the region’s natural beauty.

The 2 parts are very popular for EVG / EVJF outings with a zip line, jumps and slides, it is a very playful canyon that our instructors know how to adapt for all levels so that everyone has fun!

How does a day trip down the Furon Canyon work in Grenoble?

Of the three day canyons around Grenoble, the canyon du furon is undoubtedly the most accessible. Composed of two parts: the canyon du furon haut and the canyon du furon bas, the day trip allows you to discover a variety of obstacles and learn about canyoning as a whole.
After booking on our website, we’ll send you an email containing the equipment you’ll need for canyoning, the GPS point and the way back. You’ll need to let us know your height and weight, so that we can take the right equipment.

For this descent, we’ll start with the lower part of the Furon canyon, as it’ll be sunny in the morning, then take the cars back to the upper part of the Furon canyon, which will also be sunny in the afternoon. We’ll meet up at the parking lot in Sassenage, gear up for the lower part and head for the start of the Furon canyon. This descent has a few surprises in store, and finishes with a 5-minute walk back to the cars, which we return to after de-equipping and picnicking to reach the upper part of the Furon canyon.

A 15-minute climb up the foothills of the Vercors massif brings you to the Furon parking lot in the upper section. it’s off again, we get our gear and take a 10-minute approach walk to reach the bridge overlooking the Furon canyon. The descent begins intensely, with more water obstacles than the lower part.
The opportunity to make lots of jumps and slides, and a 30-minute climb back up to the parking lot. If you’ve enjoyed this adventure, you may like to consider descending the full Ecouges canyon, or for an easier version, the lower Ecouges canyoning section for the day.
We’ll send you souvenir photos of your outing by WhatsApp, to share with your friends!
