Family activities around Grenoble

In Grenoble, we’re surrounded by a number of mountain ranges, notablythe Belledonne chain, where in winter you’ll find the Chamrousse resort for skiing and other winter activities, and in summer, hiking around the many lakes. There’s the Vercors massif with its ski resorts, and in summer there’s a wide range of hiking and thrilling activities such as canyoning. And finally, the Chartreuse massif, as its name suggests, if you want to discover the history of Chartreuse liqueur, you know all about it! It’s a massif rich in discoveries, with hikes and high points such as Chamechaude, the Dent de Crolles, La Grande Sure… but also sensations with canyoning near Grenoble and magnificent via ferrata!

If you’re a family looking for something to do near Grenoble other than hiking, we can offer you the thrills of via ferrata and canyoning in the Vercors and Chartreuse. • Canyoning du Versoud Grenoble: 20 minutes from Grenoble, for beginners aged 8 and over. Approx. 2h30.
• Canyon des Ecouges Partie Basse: 20 minutes from Grenoble, for intermediates aged 8 and over. Approx. 3h30.
• Canyoning des Ecouges Upper section 20 minutes from Grenoble, sporting activities for 15-year-olds and over. Approx. 3h30.
• Canyoning des Ecouges Intégral 20 minutes from Grenoble, sporting activities for people aged 15 and over. Approx. 7 hrs.
• Canyon du Furon ( Canyoning Sassenage ) 10 minutes from Grenoble, intermediate level from age 8. Approx. 6 hrs.

In the Chartreuse Massif :

• Canyon de l’Infernet: 10 minutes from Grenoble, intermediate level from age 10. Approx. 3 hrs.
• Canyoning de l’Alloix: 20 minutes from Grenoble, intermediate level from age 12. Approx. 3 hrs.

Via Ferrata de Roche Veyrand:

Another sensational activity is our Via Ferrata de Roche Veyrand located 55 minutes from Grenoble, near Saint Pierre d’Entremont in Savoie. The first part is accessible to beginners , while the more technical second part is for the more experienced. With its 900m length and the experience of its riders, it can last between 3 and 5 hours.
