FAQ

Is there an age limit?

Officially not, but after the age of 70, depending on your life experience, it can be difficult to practice canyoning.

What if it rains?

Rain doesn’t prevent canyoning, depending on the quantity, of course. We’ll call you if the rain is too heavy to allow canyoning, so we can offer you other solutions!

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, even if the wetsuit floats, it is imperative to know how to swim in most canyons.
If you are not at ease with water or if you have a poor level of swimming, warn your instructor he will adapt the obstacles.

Can I wear glasses in the canyon?

Yes, before each jump and slide, we put them away in the suit so as not to lose them.
If you can, prefer contact lenses.

What happens if the water level is higher than average?

If the water level is higher than average but allows safe practice, we call you to make the decision based on your experience (in some canyons with a lot of water we prefer not to take children, however adults can come). We can also change canyon or postpone.

What happens if the weather isn’t good?

If the weather is bad for canyoning, we try as far as possible to move the outing to another canyon on the same day or postpone it to another date. If these two solutions are not possible, we will refund your deposit.

How do I pay?

You can pay by cheque, cash or credit card (one payment per group). We also accept ANCV cheques (Chèques Vacances).

Can I make a reservation if I’m alone?

Of course, we have groups every day, so we can add you to an already scheduled canyoning trip without any problem.

How and when do I make my reservation?

To book a canyoning trip you can do so by phone on 06 32 47 36 41, WhatsApp, email or online directly on the corresponding canyon page.
You can book well in advance if you want a specific canyon and a specific day.
But we also accept last-minute bookings if we still have canyoning instructors available!

Can I bring my phone or camera?

The instructor takes photos during the outing, but you can also take your own photos. Just bring waterproof cameras (GoPro or waterproof phone + waterproof pouch).
And why not share them on our Google page!

What should I bring with me?

For half-day canyoning, you’ll need a pair of lace-up sneakers, a swimsuit and a towel. For full-day canyoning, pack a picnic lunch.

What equipment will I be provided with?

We’ll provide you with all the specific equipment you need for your outing.
A canyoning harness and lanyards, an eight for abseiling, a Seland 5mm Neoprenne wetsuit, neoprene socks that will fit into your shoes to keep your feet warm and a helmet. All our equipment is CE certified and undergoes regular PPE testing.

Are jumps compulsory?

In French canyoning, jumps are never compulsory, there will always be another way down (de-escalation, abseiling…).

Do I need experience to go canyoning?

You don’t need any experience to practice canyoning. When you book, we’ll help you choose a canyon suited to your level and experience. However, you do need to be able to swim, and some canyoning routes, such as the upper section of the Ecouges, require you to already know how to abseil.

Is canyoning dangerous?

Canyoning is no more dangerous than cycling, but certain precautions must be taken: don’t overestimate yourself, especially on jumps, listen to your instructor and give advance warning if you have any health problems. Our instructors are there to help you practice this activity safely.

What shoes should I wear for canyoning?

Lace-up sneakers are very suitable; there are specific shoes for canyoning, but the cost is high (between €120 and €170 per pair).

What equipment will I be provided with?

Terranova Canyoning provides you with all the equipment you need: harness, helmet, wetsuit, neoprene socks. You’ll need to bring lace-up sneakers, a swimsuit and a towel for the end! Our instructors take care of the rest!

How and when do I make my reservation?

You can book online, on Whatsapp or call us. Our instructors will get back to you as soon as possible. Although advance reservations are required to join the tour, last-minute bookings are welcome a day or two before the tour.

At what age can you start canyoning?

Canyoning can be done from the age of 8. It’s best to know how to swim, but the wetsuits make you float on your own, so you don’t need to be a strong swimmer!

Can I register on my own?

Of course you can! Our instructors will add you to a group.
