Vertical canyons in Isère
When we think of canyoning, we often think of jumps and slides, but there’s also abseiling.
In the Isère region, many canyons feature large abseils. With the right training, abseils can become a fun and exciting obstacle.
Here is a list of canyons in the Isère

- Canyon du Ruzand between Valence and Grenoble, height of the largest waterfall 150m
- Canyon du Versoud high between Valence and Grenoble, height of the largest waterfall 140m
- Canyon des Ecouges high between Valence and Grenoble, height of the largest waterfall 63m
- Canyon de la Pissarde between Grenoble and Gap , height of the largest waterfall 80m

Secondary canyons in Isère
These Isère canyons are less watery than the well-known Isère descents, but they’re also less crowded, and that’s pretty cool. They feature interesting obstacles, which is great for getting off the beaten track and discovering more confidential areas.
Here are some ideas for the coolest secondary routes:
– Ruisseau de carmes the final drop is aquatic and very steep.
– l’Etroit des Colombière an early-season canyon, possible in March, with an S-shaped waterfall.
–Le Veyton an alpine canyon in crystal-clear water, little used because of the long approach walk.
The Isère canyons for an autumn outing
These canyons can be considered from early September onwards, as the water level has to be as low as possible, and the air temperature has to be below 10° on the plains to prevent the glaciers above them from melting.
These are oftendifficult canyons, but splendid and intense. You need special equipment to cover them and a good command of the techniques. Fortunately, our guides are the best in the business!
– Canyon du Gâ, a great vertical canyon with a splendid view of the Meije.
– Canyon de la Meije, a canyon with unique erosion forms.
– Canyon de Lanchatra, a canyon with an ever-increasing flow.
– Canyon du Diable, turquoise waters and over 35 obstacles.
– Canyon de Etages, a Swiss-style canyon in magnificent white granite.
